Role Overview
As our Technical Artist / Animator, you will bridge the gap between art and technology, crafting animations, and visual effects that have the "wow" factor. You will collaborate closely with designers, developers, and artists to ensure visual excellence and smooth performance. We are looking for someone with a strong artistic eye, technical expertise, and an ability to tell stories through both visuals and movement.
Key Responsibilities
Create and implement high-quality animations for characters, environments, and visual effects that align with the game's style and design.
Identify opportunities to use generative AI throughout the creative cycle
Collaborate with developers and artists to design and optimize tools, workflows, and pipelines for asset integration.
Develop and maintain rigging systems for characters and objects.
Design, create, and optimize shaders, materials, and particle effects to ensure visual consistency and performance.
Troubleshoot animation and visual issues, ensuring smooth implementation across multiple platforms.
Use animation state machines, blend trees, and procedural systems in Unity to bring characters and environments to life.
Provide creative and technical feedback to improve the quality of animations, art pipelines, and asset workflows.
Stay updated on the latest tools, trends, and technologies to bring innovative solutions to the team.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist and Animator in the gaming industry.
Strong understanding of animation principles, storytelling through movement, and timing.
Experience rigging and skinning characters and objects for games.
Advanced skills in Unity, including creating animation controllers, blend trees, shaders, and particle systems.
Solid understanding of art pipelines, asset optimization, and performance profiling.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as C# (for Unity) or Python for tool and pipeline development.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities for both animation and visual challenges.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
A portfolio showcasing both animation work and technical art solutions.
Familiarity with Unity's Timeline tools.
Experience with Spine or Rive
Experience with generative AI tools
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with procedural animations and physics-driven systems.
Knowledge of scripting shaders using HLSL or GLSL.
Passion for storytelling, visual effects, and immersive game experiences.
Experience with sports games
